Someone once asked me how I began my design journey.
Well, this is how it all started.

Since I was little, I’ve always loved drawing, crafting, and making things with my hands. I was fascinated by colors, beauty, and anything visually appealing, and I was always stubborn when it came to aesthetic choices. But back then, I simply thought I was just a kid who loved to draw: a bit picky, maybe, but nothing more.

It wasn’t until my final year of junior high school that something unexpected happened. During a home economics class, I was assigned to the beauty section and ended up sketching a makeup and eyeshadow design that turned out surprisingly well. My teacher decided to enter it into the National Skills Competition, and to my surprise, I won first place in the regional contest, which gave me a direct recommendation for admission to a vocational high school.

While my teacher guided me through my very first career exploration, I discovered for the first time that there was something called the “Design Field.” And it turned out that everything design students learned was exactly the kind of things I’d always been interested in.
For a confused and uncertain middle schooler who had no idea what to study in high school, what to major in, or what kind of job to pursue in the future, that realization was like a light turning on.

I still remember the judge’s feedback from that competition, the words that gave me courage, confidence, and a spark that has carried me all the way into my design career:

“Bold use of color, great sense of balance, smooth blending technique, clean and delicate presentation — excited to see your future development.”

And I’ll never forget the teacher who opened that new door for me, guiding me step by step toward the things I love, and onto the path of design.

That’s how it all began, my design journey.

It’s been fifteen years in the blink of an eye. I often joke about how I’m still walking on this “no turning back” design path, but truthfully, this will probably be the work I love and enjoy for the rest of my life.
I want to write down these reflections from different stages of my journey, so that when my passion gets worn down by the harshness of reality, I can still remember that small beginning and the big dream it carried.

And I hope we can all remember this:

A few kind words of encouragement, no matter how small, can sometimes give someone unexpected confidence and the courage to keep going.
